Author, filmmaker, designer, and mathematician.
I'm also a Stamps Scholar and National Merit Scholar pursuing a degree in mathematics with a minor in industrial design.
And yes, mathematics and art are a bit of an odd couple, but to me, they just make sense together. I fell in love with mathematics because of the artistry of calculus - it is the universal language of change, a way to understand the flow and motion of life, from leaves to the stars.
But the question still remains: what is the connecting thread to my ideas, my goals, my career? The best answer I can give is that I'm dedicated to capturing the strange magic and complexity of humanity, that which makes us completely unique. All of my work is dedicated to connecting us together, through the most human experiences, like grief, friendship, and love.
And how does math fit? Math is a creative language, the great connector across STEM fields. More importantly (to me, at least), it has a rich history. A history of collaboration and rivalry, of support and betrayal. It's a glance into the human psyche across millennia.
Basically, I'm always mulling over those big, persistent questions, at least when I'm not playing pickleball. Or playing piano. Or watering my possibly-too-large collection of plants.
